Situated in the beautiful Appalachians, Mars Hill University has brought higher education to Madison County – the jewel of the Blue Ridge – since 1856. Mars Hill University’s Dining Services, operated by Chartwells, work to bring the same sense of pride, commitment, and uniqueness to students and the wider Mars Hill community through each and every dish served at Pittman Dining Hall, The Lion’s Den, and The Ice Cream Shoppe. In working with ASAP, Mars Hill Dining Services is able to provide fresh, seasonal produce – whether it’s worked into our crisp and refreshing salad bar or blended seamlessly into a fresh omelet each morning – by partnering with local farms, farmers, and purveyors. These partnerships allow Mars Hill’s Dining Services to tap into the overwhelming amount of local produce and products – from Marshall to Johnson City to Asheville. In spring, there are plenty of strawberries, asparagus, and peas. In fall and winter, there’s always pumpkin, squash, and leafy greens. When visitors to Mars Hill University eat on campus, they’re getting a true taste of the mountains.
