About CAC Beardsley Community Farm

CAC Beardsley Community Farm is an urban demonstration site that has promoted food security and sustainable urban agriculture through practice, education, and community outreach since 1998. Beardsley Farm grows a large variety of fruits and vegetables. Currently we have raspberry and blackberry brambles, muscadine grapes and blueberries, an orchard of fruit and nut trees, a large field for summer crops, a coop with laying hens, and an apiary, all situated on four and a half acres in Malcolm-Martin Park in Mechanicsville. The Farm is maintained by two urban agriculture co-directors, and an education coordinator, as well as small team of AmeriCorps members, and many volunteers from the Knoxville community. Each year, CAC Beardsley Community Farm grows and donates 10,000 pounds of produce to hunger relief organizations, educates nearly 2,000 youth and adults on the basics of gardening, cooking, and nutrition, hosts 2,000 volunteers, distributes 10,000 vegetables starts, and manages 25 community gardens on-site dedicated to refugees, as well as 20 off-site gardens. Interested in a volunteering for produce? Contact us today about our Workshare CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program. For every four hours of volunteer work, members will receive a bag of naturally grown produce from Beardsley Farm. Follow our work on Facebook and Instagram at Beardsley Farm.
